Dr. TANSUKH J. SALGIA 

Dr. Tansukh J Salgia (TJ) was born in a small town in India in a very religious, respected and progressive Jain family. Since his childhood Dr. Salgia was very inquisitive about the inner workings of Jain tradition and its effects on the uplifting the human spirit, reverence for all life and environment around him.  

After completion of his undergraduate degree in India, in 1965 in search of new world and better opportunity he proceeded to England and United States for higher education, where he successfully completed his Master’s and doctorate degrees in Business and Finance. He also earned many other certificates in Government Accounting, Real estate, auditing etc. 

From 1967-1993 Dr. Salgia has worked in the institutions of higher education (Colleges and Universities) as chief business and financial officer and since 1993 he is employed by the State of Ohio and presently is with the Ohio Department of Health as an Internal Auditor and Internal Accounting Control Program coordinator. 

Since 1967 Dr. Salgia is very actively involved in the promotion and propagation of the fundamental Jain principles of “Live and Let Live and help others to Live” by participating in many conferences, seminars, convocations and publication of books, articles, magazines, documentary films, audio and video cassettes etc. Time to time Dr. Salgia is the spoke person for the Jains at many local churches, colleges and universities. 

Dr. Salgia is the founder of many Jain and Asian organizations, such as Federation of Jain Association in North America (JAINA), International Mahavir Jain Mission (Sidhhachalam), Jain Society of Greater Cleveland, Mahavir World Vision, Asian American Federation of Cleveland, Bramhi Jain Society, Mahavir World Vision and Asian American Service Council (Columbus). 

Dr Salgia is the founding father of “Jain Digest” a quarterly magazine of JAINA and co-founder and Director of international quarterly publication “Jain Sprit Magazine”.

Dr. Salgia has also served in many capacities at the local and National Federation of Asian Indians in America. 

In 1992-93 Dr. Salgia was liaison for “THE JAINS” at the secretariat of Parliament of World Religions and coordinator of all Jain activities during the Centennial Celebration of the Parliament of World Religions held in Chicago in August-September 1993. 

In 1986 Dr. Salgia was one of the founding members of conference of Religions of Diocese of Cleveland that sponsors biannually Interfaith Convocation. Dr Salgia is the council member of Interfaith Association of Central Ohio and Board and executive committee member of Port Columbus Interfaith Services. 

Since 1998 Dr. Salgia is participating in the World Culture and Sports Festival, conferences, convocations organized by the Interriligious International Federation for World Peace and World Peace Academy. 

Dr. Salgia is very active in the local, State and National political process. During 1988, he served as state co-chair for Ohio Nationalities for the Bush-Quayle campaign. In 1990, he served as state co-chair for the coalition division for Hon. George V. Voinovich campaign for Governor of Ohio. 

In 1992 Dr. Salgia was appointed to serve on Quincy (IL) Economic Development Loan Committee and since 1996 he serve on Columbus (OH) Area Cable Television Commission. 

The White House, the area U.S Congress people, the Governor and House of Representatives of Ohio, the Mayor and the city council, City of Cleveland have publicly recognized Dr. Salgia’s services. In 1997 Federation of Jain Association conferred upon him the title of “JAIN RATNA” (Jewel of Jain Community). He is also listed in Who’s who in the World 1993-1994 and Who’s who in America, 49th edition by Marquis publications. 

Dr Salgia has been appointed as Ambassador for peace by The Interreligious and International Federation for World Peace. 

Dr. Salgia is a citizen of the United State, has two sons, a grand son and resides in Columbus, Ohio with his wife Bharati.
